According to Tech Nation, the number of tech businesses in the East of England has risen to a staggering 19,090+ with a turnover of £8.3bn. Many of these can be found in Cambridge, which has fast established itself as a globally-recognised hub for science and technology.

People in Cambridge are also committed to increasing their knowledge and skillset, with 14% of tech employees currently attending a meetup event. With so many great events taking place across the city, we thought we’d run down some of the best.

Networking opportunities

Let’s start with Cambridge 100, one of the longest established-meetings of business professionals and tech experts in the city. Held over dinner in the fantastic surroundings of Jesus College, each event provides an opportunity for like-minded tech experts to network, learn and develop, as well as hear from some insightful guest speakers. Cambridge 100 is free to join, but you don’t have to be a member to attend one of its dinners.

Cambridge DevOps is a networking meetup of experts and anyone with an interest or career in IT. In each quarterly meet-up, 450+ members can expect to hear from industry leaders in a relaxed social environment that encourages members to network with fellow tech specialists.

.NET believes in the power of collaborative learning. Specifically for those who specialise or are interested in .NET development, this meetup provides a space for learning, growing and sharing tips, all with the end goal of growing members’ knowledge and skills in .NET.

Learning opportunities

Coding and pizza – it’s a developer’s dream combo. The Cambridge Programmers’ Study Group hosts a wide range of meetups that provide space to work on your coding side projects or learn some new skills, all while enjoying a slice of pizza or a spot of brunch.

Elsewhere, the events hosted by Barclays Eagle Labs at its Cambridge Incubator are among the best in the city. Whether you’re looking for networking breakfasts or practical workshops, there are numerous free events designed to suit everyone, from business owners to developers. Interested in growing your network or learning more about AI? This is the place for you.
