Head of Technology and Transformation
This is a senior Digital leadership role within an established, commercially organisation undergoing a significant programme of modernisation and business improvement. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead a small internal digital team and take ownership of a broad agenda spanning business systems, data, CRM, digital channels, automation, AI and cyber security.
The organisation has a clear multi year strategy and digital is central to delivering it. Your role will be to turn that ambition into practical improvements: simplifying how customers interact with the business, improving the way information and data are used, removing inefficient manual processes and ensuring technology investment delivers measurable commercial and operational value.
You’ll take responsibility for the wider digital roadmap, providing leadership across ERP and core business applications, CRM, websites and portals, data and reporting, integrations, automation and infrastructure. A major priority will be bringing together fragmented information to create a much clearer view of individual customer relationships, enabling the business to improve service, communicate more effectively and demonstrate the value it provides.
Alongside the systems and data agenda, you’ll identify opportunities to automate repetitive work and explore where AI and emerging technologies can genuinely improve productivity, decision-making and customer experience. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to understand how they operate, challenge existing processes and translate business requirements into deliverable technology and change initiatives.
You’ll also provide leadership around cyber security and business resilience, manage external technology suppliers and development partners, and give the CEO and wider leadership team clear visibility of priorities, investment, risks and realised benefits.
They’re looking for somebody with broad experience across digital, technology, systems and business transformation who can operate strategically while remaining sufficiently close to delivery to make things happen. You’ll need experience leading people and suppliers and delivering improvements across areas such as ERP, CRM, data, reporting, digital platforms, integrations or automation.
This isn’t a traditional infrastructure-focused Head of IT role. Equally, it isn’t a pure transformation or programme position. They’re looking for someone who can connect technology with how the organisation actually works – understanding users and customers, identifying opportunities for improvement and turning technology, data and process change into tangible business outcomes.
You don’t need experience from this particular sector. More important is the ability to operate effectively within a mid-sized organisation, communicate technology in commercial terms and build credibility with both senior stakeholders and operational teams.
