A year on from the first British lockdown and almost a year from our first survey and report on the impact of COVID-19 on candidate confidence.

This year, instead of speaking to candidates alone, we widened our survey to hirers to hear about their experiences, both as employees and employers.

In doing so, we sought to find out the following:

  • What has the impact been on candidates over the past year?
  • What impact do hirers feel COVID-19 has had on the IT industry?
  • What will the impact be on future recruitment within the market?

“There has been a significant and dramatic increase in both contract and permanent roles since the summer of 2020 and this shows no signs of easing off.”

We expected to hear that there had been a significant change in the way people work, equally a decrease in companies looking actively to employ. This was challenged after hearing from our respondents.

50% of hirers stated that they had seen no difference in their ability to hire during the past year.

With an overwhelming response rate, we unveiled some interesting findings about the impact a year on from the first lockdown.
