Head of IT Infrastructure

Bristow Holland have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Infrastructure to join an exciting global business based in Ipswich on a 50% remote basis.

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract initially with the view to go permanent where you will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful scaling of the organisation. You will be responsible for driving strategy, creating and maintaining roadmaps, and line management of the global infrastructure department.

Responsibilities:

• Leading, growing, developing, and operating a high-performance global infrastructure organisation that comprises of systems and reliability, applications, network, databases, hardware and datacentres, and DevOps;
• Developing and driving long-term strategy for the production and development of infrastructure engineering, architecture, and operations, delivering high-performance, security, reliability, and usability;
• Identifying and managing appropriate third-party vendors (both hardware and professional services) who work in partnership to support the infrastructure team and wider organisation;
• Ensuring a robust Disaster Recovery strategy for all critical systems and infrastructure;
• Ensuring that production services critical to the systems are designed, deployed, and maintained with security and reliability at the forefront;
• Managing budget for the IT architecture, with a solid sense of balance for efficiency and focus;
• Consulting with stakeholders Globally to ensure the alignment and prioritisation of resources in line with business priorities;
• Actively contribute to the global IT & Change leadership team as a core member;
• Coach, mentor and develop staff to assist them in being the best IT professional that they can be;
• Undertake IT demand management for the infrastructure globally, and act as principal manager for the portfolio of change;
• Ensure a cost effective and sustainable support model is in place for the infrastructure, and performance against agreed service level agreements is measured and reported;

Key Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience and 5+ years delivering technology initiatives at large multi-business unit organisations;
• Proven track record in delivering change and managing delivery and technical risk to ensure successful outcomes;
• Working with external software vendors to successfully deliver projects and support services;
• Technical expertise with networks. Applications, on premise infrastructure, storage, security, and cloud-based solutions;
• Previous experience and knowledge of administering Global infrastructure with high availability;
• Sound stakeholder management and collaboration skills with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional interdisciplinary teams including third party and augmented resource;
• 3+ years Infrastructure management with strong infrastructure technology, architecture, and management experience;
• Deployment and operation of solutions on-premises and public cloud solutions;
• Knowledge of enterprise service management best practice (e.g., ITIL);
• Knowledge of agile manifesto, and DevOps best practice (e.g., Scrum, CI/CD;
